Hello Brimley Community,
Brimley Area Schools last major renovation occured in 1999, with our community approving a bond and millage that provided funds for the renovations. Recently, our district completed a facilities assessment to better understand the condition of our buildings and grounds. This assessment identified several areas where repairs, replacements, and updates will be needed in the coming years.
As we look ahead, the district is exploring whether our community would support a future bond proposal on the November ballot. We are currently considering two options: a 0 mill increase bond and a 1.9 mill increase bond.
The 0 mill increase option would focus on essential infrastructure needs, such as replacing aging systems and maintaining our facilities. It would also include some smaller improvements to support academics and athletics, along with quality-of-life updates for students and staff.
The 1.9 mill increase option would also address those essential infrastructure needs, but would allow for additional upgrades and improvements to our academic and athletic facilities.
For an average homeowner, a 1.9 mill increase would cost approximately $1.90 per $1,000 of taxable home value per year. For example, a home with a $100,000 value would, generally speaking, have a taxable value of approximately $50,000 and would see an increase of about $95 per year.
Your feedback is very important as we consider next steps. Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts and help guide the future of Brimley Area Schools.

Today Brimley Area Schools wants to celebrate our amazing team for School Lunch Hero Day!
Every day our Lunch Hero's go above and beyond, not just serving food but welcoming students and staff to the cafeteria with smiles and sincerity. Often times our lunch crew are among the first faces a student sees and their interactions can play an important role on that student/s day!
Hats off to our Brimley Lunch Hero's, we truly appreciate you!

Thank you Bay Mills Indian Community for a 2nd set of art panels for the Spring Art Show and thank you to Soo Co-op Credit Union for covering a portion of the shipping costs! Brimley Area School appreciates your support!

Brimley Area Schools was well represented over the weekend in the High School Quiz Bowl. Brimley placed 10th in the state (out of 380 schools). Hazel Garvon placed 5th in individual players, and was recognized with a medal at Michigan State University. Brimley Quiz Bowl has had a great year, placing 6th in the upper peninsula on WNMU public TV 13 High School Bowl, winning the regional tournament, and placing 10th in the state. We congratulate the team, and thank our graduating seniors for their hard work, Hazel Garvon, Dylan Kabelman, Cameron Brown, and Eden Fleming!

Kitchen Science classes have been studying "Cheese" for the past few weeks. From learning to make homemade cheese, to studying the origin of cheese, they put their knowledge to the test by sampling the various types of cheeses. Sixteen varieties were sampled, categorized, and described. On average, students had only tried three of the varieties before today's activity.
