Homework Policy & Other Important Information
Homework Policy: If a student is absent, has forgotten, or didn’t complete an assignment when it is due they have an extra night to work on it (one day grace period). If it is not handed in the next morning it is a zero in the grade book. (Please refer to the Brimley Elementary Student Handbook Attendance policy on page 3 for more information)
Planner: Students will be provided a planner that they will write all daily assignments in. Students are to bring planners home every night to be initialed by a parent. This is a good way for teacher and parents to communicate when a short note needs to be made. This also allows the parent to see whether their child is getting their homework done.
Friday Folders: Graded papers and tests will be distributed back to the students every Friday. Students will compile all papers in a marked folder to bring home. Students will also receive an updated Progress Report for all core-subjects at least two times per marking period. The Progress Report is to be looked over by you (parent/guardian), signed, and returned by the following Monday. The progress report will let you know how your student is doing, especially if you do not have access to Illuminate. (Please note: All “fix-it”/Re-do papers will be returned to the student promptly, not on Friday distribution).
Illuminate: Illuminate is a great program that lets parents access their students’ grades, attendance, and assignments 24/7. If you need an access #/code, please see our building principal. We highly encourage our parents to use both this tool and email to help better the communication link between school and home.
